Want to volunteer at APG Beacon? We have a lot of opportunities such as chicken care, garden workdays, and food pantry support.
The Garden Care Team consists of parent volunteers and community members. Their tasks include planning Garden Workdays, chicken care, and cleaning garden gloves. If you are interested in getting involved, please email Beth Guy at bguy@bacr.org.
We also work with SFUSD to develop internship opportunities for high school students. If you would like to get involved, please email Site Coordinator, Boris Coronado, at coronadob@x.sfusd.edu.

Chicken Care
The AP Giannini Garden is home to our lovely egg-laying chickens - Midnight, Pepper, Gooseberry, and Mushroom. Our chickens are always in need of support from the community! It is a great way to spend time outdoors with your family!
Chicken Care tasks include:
Cleaning hen house and water bowls
Setting up chicken feeder
Collecting chicken eggs - that you can also bring home!

Lunchtime Garden Volunteer
Tuesdays, 12:25 to 1:05 PM
Thursdays, 12:42 to 1:22PM
We are looking for Parent Volunteers to support with supervision in the school garden during lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You would be in the garden with the chickens, our students, and Garden Teacher Ansel Schoonhoven.
Lunchtime Garden Volunteer tasks include:
Supervising students
Making sure students are safe, responsible, and respectful.

Food Pantry Volunteer
Fridays, 10:00 to 12:30pm at Sunset Ministry (3010 Noriega Street)
APG Beacon hosts a food pantry in collaboration with SF Marin Food Bank at the Sunset Ministry. We are always looking for food pantry volunteers and tasks include setting up, packing grocery bags, distributing food, checking in participants, managing the line, cleaning up, and other tasks that may arise.
Volunteers MUST be 18 years or older. Only volunteers who have reserved a space may volunteer. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
Please read these guidelines for serving at the food pantry, including the highlights below:
Wear closed-toed shoes
Our pantry is outside. Please wear comfortable clothing (we recommend layers, a hat, and sunscreen due to the ever-changing weather conditions)
Be aware there will not be a place to store personal belongings, please do not bring valuables.
We ask that any volunteer who does not feel well refrain from attending their volunteer shift
